KONAK MUNICIPALITY İZMİR WOMEN'S MUSEUM
The fifth boutique museum of Konak Municipality, the first Women's Museum of Türkiye, was opened on January 23, 2014. The museum has the characteristics of 19th-century houses. Elements of European and traditional Turkish architecture were used together Decently. The enrichment of the neoclassical facade with a bay window indicates the type classified as "İzmir House" or "Interaction House" in some sources. The building is a historical building consisting of three floors: reception, service, and living.
Mission
The museum aims to remind the whole world of the forgotten past and power of Anatolian women, to reveal the creativity of Anatolian women, support their self-confidence, and to create a special place where memories of their own past come alive.

The 19th- century gold-embroidered caftan, bindallı and cepken on the entrance walls arouse admiration. In the hall, there is a photograph of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk dancing with Nebile Hanım at the wedding of his adopted daughter, Nebile Hanım, at the Anakara Palace in 1929.
Women From the Past to the Present
Today's artists have works about women. There are photos of women from the past to the present, magazines, information, and documents.
Women in Anatolia in the Ancient Period
The first woman and mythology, mother goddesses, and amazons are explained with the support of visuals. It is observed that the social position of women in Anatolia in the ancient period varies according to the period.
Information about the Anatolian woman in the ancient period is mostly obtained from artifacts unearthed by excavations. These artifacts, namely steles, jewelry, ceramics, mosaics, frescoes, and the like, help us trace the life of a woman in antiquity.
Garden
There are masks (facing patterns) of Halide Edip Adıvar, Cahide Sonku, Füreya, and Afife Jale, our Turkish women who broke new ground in history. There is a statue of Nâzım Hikmet on a bench along with his poetry, and it also contains a special section where free calls will be expressed in a poetic language.
Protest and Women's Chamber
Various resistances of women in social life are included in their stories. Documents explain that in 1828 the bread was raised, the women of Izmir took to the streets with their children to protest, and upon the women's revolt, the then-governor Hasan Pasha took back the bread price.
