The historic building in Konya was built in 1912 and served as a governor’s mansion for a certain period of time. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed in this house on his arrival to Konya and in 1927, house was purchased by the municipality of Konya and in 1928 it was registered in the name of Ataturk as an expression of Konya’s gratitude to Atatürk and it has been recorded on the deed as “A gift of inhabitants of Konya to the President Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha”.
In 1963, one year later the building was turned over to the Ministry of Education and in the following years it was restored again and opened to visit in 1982 as the Museum of Ataturk House in its present form. Museum of Atatürk House is a museum where the clothes used by Atatürk and various items he used at home when he came to Konya were exhibited. Colognes, combs, cutlery and various kitchen utensils are among the items that you can see in the museum. Each room has various objects related to Ataturk, due to the fact that the house was in Konya the photographs taken at the time of his arrival in Konya, as well as notes, newspaper clippings taken in the house and the written depictions of what Ataturk had experienced during his visit to Konya are displayed at the panels on the walls.
