The old Art School building, registered as "Cultural Property Required to be Preserved", located on Rahmi Günay Street in Sivas, Merkez, Çayyurt district, was built as Sanayi-i School by Sivas Governor Reşit Akif Pasha in 1896-1899. In 1911, it was opened by Sivas Governor Muammer Bey as a blacksmithing and carpentry workshop in order to train intermediate technical personnel for factories, opposite the Art School Carpetmaking School. The school, which continued its activities in the first years of the Republic, has remained idle for a while in recent years due to the newly built Industrial Vocational High School being sufficient. The restoration work of the building was started in 2005 by the Sivas Provincial Special Provincial Administration and completed in 2007, the exhibition and arrangement was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and it was opened to visitors as Sivas Archeology Museum affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on 29.04.2009.
